Earthquake

Dear guests,

  • Rest assured that our building meets earthquake resistance standards and is unlikely to collapse in the event of an earthquake.
  • Depending on the damage situation in the area, we may check on you even if you may be sleeping. (When Biei Town has a seismic intensity of 5 or higher)
  • Please open the door to secure an escape route and stay calm in your room until you have more information.

When an earthquake occurs (from the time of occurrence until the shaking subsides)

Please protect yourselves

  • Cover your head, stay away from large furniture and equipment that may tip over. Hide under a sturdy desk.
  • The building meets seismic standards. No need to rush out in a hurry.
  • Evacuate from under hanging lights and paintings.

Immediately after the earthquake (as soon as the shaking subsides)

Please check the safety

  • Check if there is a fire. A fire extinguisher is installed in each wing. In case of fire, please cooperate with the initial fire extinguishing. Please turn off the power of electrical appliances. If you have a tipped over hot household appliance such as an electric kettle or clothing steamer, place it somewhere safe and turn off the power.
  • Securing an exit (Open the door of the entrance so that you can evacuate).
  • Check for injured or trapped people who need to be rescued.

After confirming the safety of the surroundings

Gather information and decide what to do next.

  • Please check the disaster information and evacuation information from the government or the public broadcasting
  • Go to the designated evacuation site while ensuring safety when evacuation advisories and evacuation orders are issued. You are responsible for making evacuation decisions when you cannot be in touch with the on-site staff.
  • In an emergency (an earthquake with seismic intensity of 5 or higher, an eruption alert level of 4 or higher, an evacuation advisory issued by the government, etc.), we will give priority to the safety of our guests, so we may consider allowing guests to be able to continue staying in our facility if seemed necessary.
    • It is up to you to decide whether to stay or leave the facility. Please be careful about aftershocks when you leave the facility. Since it is a mountainous area, there is a risk of landslides.
    • If you decide to continue staying at our facility, please beware that there might be a possibility of electricity and water being shut off. Please be noted in advance.

Fire

  • If you notice a fire, contact the on-site staff and call 119 immediately.
  • If a fire breaks out at our facility, a fire alarm will be activated. In addition, a fire extinguisher is installed in each wing.
  • If the fire can be extinguished, use a fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire. If it is not possible to extinguish the fire, please call out all the guests in our facility and evacuate to the outside of the building.

Eruption

  • At the beginning of the eruption, there is a danger of flying stones. The first floor is relatively safe. Please ensure your safety without going out of the building unnecessarily.
  • If an evacuation advisory or evacuation order is issued, please evacuate to a safe place while ensuring safety. Guests are responsible for making evacuation decisions when they cannot be in touch with the on-site staff.
    • The evacuation site will be guided by the government such as Hokkaido and Biei Town according to the situation. Please consider the administrative instructions based on your judgment. In the case of an eruption, there are also dangers such as pyroclastic flow, lava flow, and gas.
    • It is up to you to decide whether to stay or leave the facility based on information you gather.
